Kravis Foundation Education and Outreach Programs

Through the generosity of the Raymond and Bessie Kravis Foundation, Tulsa Opera is proud to offer a broad and diverse number of educational programs during this 60th-Anniversary season. The following list provides an overview of this season’s programming. Click on the drop-down tabs for full program descriptions and registration information.  

For Teachers:

Opera Insights 101 and 202 - These FREE workshops introduce educators to all of the operas featured in Tulsa Opera’s 2007-2008 Season:
“Get Floored” at the Opera - Schoolteachers can purchase season tickets in the orchestra section for “balcony prices”.

For Schools:

60th-Anniversary State Tour of The Pirates of Penzance - Tulsa Opera continues its interactive touring productions program with Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic masterpiece The Pirates of Penzance.

The Magic Flute Student Matinee - This performance provides students in grades 4-12 the opportunity to witness a fully produced opera production including a full orchestra and chorus with an audience of their peers. 

For Students and Young Singers:

Tulsa Youth Opera - Inaugurated in 1997, Tulsa Youth Opera is a tuition-free chorus for young singers ages 8-18.

Student and Military Rush Tickets - A limited number of rush tickets for Tulsa Opera mainstage performances may be purchased on the day of each performance by current, full-time students or military personnel.

Williams Literacy through Opera Program

Through the generosity of Williams, Tulsa Opera is pleased to present a new educational program during the 2007-2008 season. Literacy thru Opera is a multi-media program designed to enhance student reading in conjunction with an introduction to opera music.

For Adults:

Pre-performance Opera Talks
Learn more about the operas you’ll see at informal talks that take place one hour before curtain at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center in the Westby Pavilion.

Opera Insights
The Guild of Tulsa Opera continues this popular series of wine and cheese lectures led by local opera connoisseurs.
